Very aoon afters he wad sent to thie Retreat where he remained up till‘ the time of ‘hia death, Dueing al) these years he was eaployed in the capacity of Questor and the good example which hia edifying life gave to the world with which he was obliged to mix did ae much towards promoting the interests of the Congregation as the donations which he received. fever onde wae he known to offend againat the rules whith showld govern the conduct of @ goed religious, bot on the contrary his praise was frequently on the lips of priesta and people, and even bishope spoke of hig publicly in. theix ehurches, recomtonding him to theixy flovks, and saying how glad they were te see the "good Bro. Olenent* come amongst then. For nearly two yeare he had been in falling health, tut he worked on alsest to the last, oo anxious was he to provide fer the wants of the Retreat. Nor did the treacherous nature of tha complaint from which he was suffering= heart dégease = prevent him, though he knew that he was Liable to « sudden deaths He left the Retreat on the serning of the Iéth to visit some benefactors in the city, but towards widuday feeling very unwell, he returned home. Two days after, knowing that the dé@ease was gaining upon him, he requected that the Lest Seoramente should be administered to him, whieh was done in preseney of the assembled comunity. Clement was a man of stréag and simple faith, of asiable and gentle sam ranner, und en ardent lever of the Congregation in whose interests he laboured faithfully till hie de&th, The recoti of his life is such as to entitle us to hope that he ie already in the possession of the vision of God, Whom he loved so mich and served 90 well.
