Clement of the Gacred Heart..caluly expired in this Retreat (“esris) on Saturday, lath. duly, 1877 at the hour of 11 o'vlock at night. His name in the world was Christopher Doran anda was corn at Dublin on 1Sth. November, 1228. When quite a boy he was sent by his pious parents to the Aollege of Sestleknockmere, Dublin, where he gained distinction in all his studies, especially in Latin, Greeké and fnglish Composition. The taste eno elegance he there acquired especially in English Composition fitted hin for the holy Missions,when he became a Yassionist anc a priest he preached with so much eloquence, grace anc unetion and gained so many souls to God. Ye...was professed on 25th. Jenuary, 1858 (at Broadway). From the Novitiate (he was cent) to our Retreat at the oyde, near _London, to begin his studies, and afterwards to St.Joseph's hetreat, Highgate, when our Fathers hee purchased it... ils ving tonpleted his studies and having been ordeined priest, he was sent to our lietreat of St.Anne, Sutton, where he soon prepared himself dor those Missions which he preached with so much enersy anc zeol, which brought so much fruit to souls end so nany sinners back to rod. His health broke down at an early peri iod of his mies slonary e#reer, but although suffering much from diseese ene debility, he continued his mssionary labours till complete exhaustion compelled him to return to our Novitiate at St. Seviour's, Broadway’, where he remained about twelve yeare suffering much. But, his energy of mind end his zeal for the salvation of souls triumphing, over his physical weakness enablec him at tines to preach to our lay congrerstion there, who were enrapturec st the beaut, anc fervour of his discourses.
