Br. Mark Kangley (1848-1914) Brother Mark (Kang Ley) of - Saint Paul of the Cross. § The death of Brother Maxie ‘of Sts Paul of the Cross took place ink this Retreat on the 2nd March 1914. He had been in failing health for some years, but a short timé ago he seemed to improve and it was thought that a change from St. Mungots Retreat to. this one might do him, good. - However; he contracted a chill from which he newer rallied. ‘Supported by the: Last Sacraments, in full and clear ‘possession of his senses and intellect and surrounded by his brethren he passed peacefully from this life. Brother Mark was born in I848. 4t Leeds, the son of David and Catherine Kangley. He was professed in 1883. . His religious, life was.very pious, Simple and ‘unobtrusive y always giving the greatest edification to all. who knew him. ' He had an extraordinary genius for artistic painting and decoration: many of ‘our dhurchés have specimens of his skill: here in Holy Cross the beautiful sacristy, the large mural paintings in the church and. the decorations he has left behind him are the admiration of connoissers from all parts.
